All of them held up extremely well, so I'm sure my new Xar will, too. According to the reviews I read, the Xar is an updated version of the Xen, a highly regarded mountain helmet in the same price range that has just been discontinued. I find the Xar is lightweight and very nicely vented, and the Roc Loc 5 strap system makes it extremely easy to adjust for the perfect fit. I like that you can adjust the angle of the visor. The helmet appears to have exceptional structural integrity and gives me peace of mind for those slightly out of control moments on my hairier rides. I bought the orange one, and in person it looks better than the photos here. The color is not obnoxious, as you might expect for bright orange. It's attractive. And of course, it's high-vis. Read more  Fits surprisingly well, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Giro Bell Xar All-Mountain Sport Helmet (Sports) I have owned maybe 5 or 6 bike helmets over the past 12 years, and I got used to helmets that seemed to fit like a styrofoam lunchbox. This is the first helmet I have owned that feels like it was built for a human head. The trick seems to be with the RocLoc system in the rear of the helmet. It's basically an adjustable securing mechanism that you can lower down to fit around the base of your noggin, then tighten it with a few turns of a small wheel in the center. The result is a fit that feels like it's gripping your head, not just sitting on top of it like a spaghetti strainer. Ventilation seems to be adequate. I wore it on a ride in 90+ degree weather last weekend and didn't feel any excess heat buildup. My one minor complaint is that the visor seems too short. It can be flipped up and down, but it's not long enough to shade my eyes from the sun during the last 30 minutes before sunset. Honestly, though, I have never had a more comfortable or better-fitting bike helmet.
