Bell Influx Bike Helmet (Silver/White, Large) Reviews
21 of 22 people found the following review helpful Love my Bell Influx and will buy another, By Mike in NC (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bell Influx Bike Helmet (Sports) I just broke my Bell Influx helmet...the hard way. I was mountain biking and hooked a tree with my handlebars and went down, hitting my head on a massive root. The Bell Influx dented on the outside shell and broke clean through it's foam structure...just like it's supposed to do, absorbing the energy of the fall so that I won't. I'm happy to say that while I killed the helmet, I experienced no bruising, swelling, or pain. I love the fit, styling, and vents of the Influx and now I know it performs flawlessly in crashes as well. I intend to buy another Influx immediately! 19 of 21 people found the following review helpful This lightweight helmet fits comfortably while keeping my head cool., By This review is from: Bell Influx Bike Helmet (Sports) After too many years without a bike I finally decided it was time to buy one for commuting from work. Since the bike cost more than I planned for, I wanted to get a good helmet at the lowest price. I started by trying on lower priced helmets but just didn't get a comfortable fit. When I got to the Influx, the fit felt good. A month later, I'm still happy with my new helmet. To get a proper fit, the straps must be properly adjusted. The five simple steps are detailed in the owner's manual complete with diagrams. Basically one wears the helmet in its proper position, adjusts the Cam-Lock adjustors, pull the chin strap tight, set the geared positioning system (GPS), and test the helmet's fit. It is recommended that after an accident, the helmet be replaced, as damage is not always obvious. Bell offers a crash replacement policy for purchases in Canada and the US costing $35 in the states. Excessive heat can damage this helmet, store in a cool dry place when... I have ridden triathlons and centuries in it, taken it offroad, and a couple of years ago wore it for an 800 mile road tour of New Zealand. I love the venting, comfort, and style of it. Last Sunday, I hit something (a large rock or pothole?) on my road bike. I was going about 25-30 mph when I lost control and went over the bars and landed on the pavement head first. I was knocked unconscious on impact and slid face down for 20 yards with my left leg tangled in the handlebars and my Bell helmet on my head. My helmet was destroyed (as it should be, cracked clean through in about 5 places), but my head suffered only a concussion from the initial impact - CAT scan showed no permanent brain damage. My helmet kept my face off of the ground a bit too so the road rash to my face was minimized. My nose was hit hard enough to give me two black eyes but was not broken. One week later, I am covered in road rash on my arms and legs but the road rash on... Read more |
